If you are a true “The Walking Dead” fan then you know that Senoia, GA is where a lot of filming for the show is done. After picking up a “Walking Dead” walking tour brochure last year at the Walker Stalker event, I decided that I wanted to do the walking tour this year. So for $25 dollars per person, my oldest son and I bought “The Touring Dead Walking Tour” from Georgia Tour Company.com.

Our tour started on Main Street of Senoia, aka Woodberry. Our guide “Shane” took us all over the town showing us various places that were filmed throughout the seasons. He even shared some of the history of the town, other films that were shot in the town along with how the town was transformed for filming. We even got to see a zombie character roaming around the town which was pretty great.
Our guide took us into the residential areas and shared the scenes that had been shot there as we were making our way to the gates of Alexandria. Though we were not allowed inside, we could hear that there was some action going on which was cool. It was pretty neat that they could film so close to the town. The tour was worth the money and the stories!
After the tour ended, we headed over to The Walking Dead Store & Museum to buy some souvenirs and check out the free museum that was downstairs. There were plenty of props that were used during filming and the walls were filled with signatures from the actors/characters. In the very back room there was a very talented artist from Germany that looked just like Abraham!
As the day went on, people began to fill the town so we decided it was time to get something to eat before we made the 3 hour trip home. Where did we eat at? We just had to stop at Nic & Norman’s that is owned by Greg Nicotero and Norman Reedus. Cheese sticks, burgers and fries filled us up before our long journey. Definitely a great place to eat at!
Now that I can check the walking tour off my list, next will be a bus tour to visit more of the filming locations for The Walking Dead.
If you have done any of the other tours, please leave a comment below because I would love to hear about your experience. Don’t forget to sign up on the home page to receive a weekly email from Ssouthernlifestyle and as always have a blessed day!
