The 80’s was a decade famous for it’s variety of everything from music to fashion to movies. There were a lot of iconic movies produced in the 80’s but there are those that are “must see” movies. These “must see” movies are the ones that you have to see before you enter into adulthood and are passed down to the next generation as “rite of passage” movies. If you haven’t seen these movies then you need to watch them so that you can truly understand what makes them so iconic.

#8 – Back to the Future (1985) Did you ever wish you could travel back in time? Well Marty finds out that making even the slightest of changes in the past can alter his future ~ even to the point of non-existence.

#7 – E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982) When Elliot finds an alien staying in the shed, he lures it inside with candy. He and his siblings decide to keep it a secret from their mom while they try to learn more about where the alien came from and how to help him “phone home”.

#6 – The Breakfast Club (1985) These 5 high schoolers are sentenced to a full day of detention. Coming from different social circles they find out that they all struggle with the relationships with their parents.

#5 – The Goonies (1985) Mikey and his friends set out on one last adventure together in hopes of finding a pirate’s treasure to save their home from foreclosure and having to move away.

#4 – The Lost Boys (1987) Moving to a new place and meeting new friends can be an adventure but some friends may not be what you think. Michael’s new friends are vampires and Sam’s new friends are vampire slayers.

#3 – Stand by Me (1986) Gordie takes you back to a childhood memory where he and his friends set out to find the body of a missing boy so they can become the town heroes. Do they ever find the body?

#2 – The Outsiders (1983) This movie follows two rivalry gangs: the Greasers and the Socs. The tensions are high but stakes become higher when Johnny defends Ponyboy by stabbing Bob, a Soc, to death. Who will survive this vicious rivalry?

#1 – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986) How do you skip a day of school? Ferris has a plan but he also gets into some sticky situations throughout the day which he will have to get out of before his parents get home.
