Being from the South, no one can deny the great spins we put on recipes to make them our own. Southern style, southern traditions and southern comfort recipes.

Coming from a family of people who can cook, I don’t know how I landed in it. I never learned to cook from memory but I can make it from a recipe. Now I am slowly trying to collect my family’s recipes so that I can make some of the foods that I was brought up knowing and loving. This recipe was handed down to my Aunt Billie from her aunt and now it has been handed down to me.

Aunt Billie’s Awesome Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies

1 stick – butter

2 cups – sugar

1/2 cup – milk

3 Tbs. – cocoa

1 tsp. – vanilla

2 cups – oatmeal

1 cup – peanut butter

Melt butter in a pan. Add sugar, cocoa, vanilla and milk. Bring to a rapid boil continually stirring for about 1 1/2 minutes. Remove from heat. Mix in oatmeal and peanut butter until it is thoroughly mixed.

Drop by the spoonful onto wax paper and let it cool.
