Memorial Day is a federal holiday for remembering those military members who died while serving the United States of America. People often use it to gather for a barbecue and socialize with friends but there is other ways to help celebrate this national holiday.
5 Ways to Celebrate Memorial Day:
-
- Go visit – Visit a National Veteran’s Cemetery. Most states have at least one Veteran’s Cemetery that you can visit.
- Get out – Check out any local events that may include any Memorial Day gatherings, festivals or parades.
- Give back – Donate to a fallen soldiers fund or charity. Proceeds go to the families and children who have been impacted by the loss of a military member.
- Get educated – Look for any TV programs celebrating Memorial Day and/or go to History.com for articles, documentaries and videos that tell the history of the national holiday.
- Give thanks – Give a “thank you for your service” to all active and Veteran military members you can because it is through their service that we continue to keep our freedoms.
