For our 15 year anniversary, my husband Steven and I deliberated many times trying to find the perfect place to go to celebrate. We had talked about some familiar places we have been in the past but I wanted to go somewhere we had never been before. We finally came to an agreement to go to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Even though the forecast was rain for most of the weekend, it did not mask the beautiful views of the mountains on the ride to and from Pigeon Forge.

The first day as we arrived, we decided just to get checked in, find a place to eat and relax the rest of the evening. It was nice just enjoying each other’s company without all the outside interferences of the world.

The next day we got up first thing to go eat breakfast and get started on our day at Dollywood. Just like other parks, there is somebody at the entrance to take your picture. I suggest buying the picture card (about $40) so that you can get all your pictures and download them later from the website.

We really enjoyed the “Festival of Nations” because the park was filled with music from different cultures.

There was plenty of Dolly’s music history to see (like her old tour bus), rides to ride, shows to watch and a beautiful eagle sanctuary. Totally worth the time and money to visit! We were blessed that day because the rain didn’t show up until we got in our car to leave.

The next morning started out with rain so we decided not to press our luck and find something inside to do. That’s when we ended up at the Alcatraz East Crime Museum. You can spend a whole day inside reading about all kinds of crime from pirates to mobsters to serial killers. There was different sections for different periods of time which was pretty cool because it was like telling a story through history.

Once we left the museum we decided to just relax the remaining part of the day and check out Margaritaville and the Hard Rock Café before returning to the hotel.

On our day of departure we decided to check out the Titanic attraction. When you arrive you are given a “passenger ticket” and at the end of the exhibit, you can find out if your person lived or not. There is a lot of behind the scenes information that I never knew which was very interesting. Inside pictures were forbidden but it was pretty neat learning about one of the most famous ships in history.

We had a wonderful trip and I can’t wait to see where the next 15 years takes us.
