Another classic recipe from my momma’s recipe book that is super easy to make. Just make sure you have a glass of milk to go with it.

Some call them no-bake cookies and some call them mud pies but I grew up knowing them as oatmeal cookies. A traditional and old-school recipe that brings back so many memories of my momma. Though I never took the time to learn how to make something from scratch, I now use her recipes to guide me. I share them because I don’t want her or her recipes to be forgotten. Enjoy!
Granny Gail’s Best Oatmeal Cookies
1 stick – butter
1/2 cup – evaporated milk
1/4 cup – cocoa
2 cups – sugar
2 1/2 cups – oatmeal (quick oats)
1/2 cup – peanut butter
1 tsp. – vanilla
In a pot bring to a boil the butter, milk, cocoa and sugar for about 3 minutes. Remove from the heat and add the oatmeal, peanut butter and vanilla. Blend thoroughly. By the spoonful drop onto wax paper (mine were a little larger than a spoonful….just saying). Let it cool or refrigerate.
