Even though Chakra teachings and healings are ancient practice for some religions, it has found a rebirth in the newer generations that do not even follow these religions. Just as we physically have 5 senses: sight, hearing, taste, touch and feel; it is believed that we have 7 energy Chakras: root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye and crown.
Now lets take a look at the 7 Chakras, where they are located and what they represent:
First Chakra: Root or base Chakra – Muladhara translates to “root support”. This Chakra is at the base of the spine and it represents your: foundation, being grounded, stability, vitality, centering, ancestral beliefs, security and trust.
Second Chakra: Sacral or Navel Chakra – Svadhishthana translates to “the residence of the self”. This Chakra is right below the navel and it represents your: creativity, sensuality, relationships, desire, intimacy and sexuality.
Third Chakra: Solar Plexus Chakra – Manipura translates to “jewel city”. This Chakra is located in the upper abdomen below the rib cage and it represents your: self-worth, confidence, sense of self, inner strength, power, sense of life purpose and wisdom.
Fourth Chakra: Heart Chakra – Anahata translates to “unstruck”. This Chakra is in the center of the chest and it represents your: love, healing, compassion, emotions, harmony, renewal, hope and peace.
Fifth Chakra: Throat Chakra – Vishuddha translates to “especially pure”. This Chakra is at the base of the throat and it represents your: communication, self-expression, ability to organize and plan, logic, reasoning and truth.
Sixth Chakra: Third Eye or Brow Chakra – Ajna translates to “command”. This Chakra is located on the forehead between the eyebrows and it represents your: focus, intuition, awareness, consciousness, imagination, calmness, visualization and self-realization.
Seventh Chakra: Crown Chakra – Sahasrara translates to “thousand-petaled”. This Chakra is at the top of the head (crown of the head) and represents your: spiritual unity, enlightenment, oneness with the universe and divine consciousness.
To be in alignment with your Chakras will bring you balance mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. If you feel that you are not balanced then there are several things you can try like yoga, meditation, controlled breathing patterns, massage and aromatherapy. When something is not in balance, you tend to notice that everything is out of whack. It is important to take the time to align your Chakras so that your life, body and spirit is in balance. This allows you to perform and feel your very best. For more information about Chakras you can click on the following links:
