It’s normal for people to look online to find wedding vendors or get referrals but do you always check out the vendor reviews before picking one? If you don’t, you should. From jewelers, venues, wedding planners, photographers, attire retailers, caterers, wedding designers, bakers, event rentals to travel agents – all vendors should have reviews for you to look through.

Not all weddings are created equal and just because you’re friend had a great experience with a vendor doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t look at other customer reviews as well. Your wedding day is a very special day so you want to make sure that almost everything goes as planned. All it takes is one bad vendor to ruin it for you and your guests.
Fact: Vendors will always show you their best reviews in leu of getting your business.
Vendors are in the business to make money and they can’t make money if they are showing you some of their worst reviews. My suggestion to you is to check out the vendor’s website along with anywhere online that the vendor’s name appears prior to contacting the vendor. Even check the Better Business Bureau to see if there has been any negative feedback left for that vendor.
Fact: Wedding planners can also be guilty of showing you the best reviews for vendors.
Especially when the planner has made certain business arrangements with the vendors. Business arrangements could include things like getting referrals and/or offering discounts for bringing in new clients. Yes a discount may be nice for the moment but if the vendor has a lot of customer complaints, would you want to risk having your big day ruined to save a few bucks? I know I wouldn’t.
Check for the consistency of reviews (more good or more not so good), content of reviews, how many reviews the vendor actually has and if the vendor responded to any of the reviews.
Remember that most creditable businesses will try to rectify any customer complaints within reason. You should also keep in mind that some people will complain no matter what hoops the vendor goes through to please them. That’s why it’s important to read the content of the reviews. Does it sound like a legitimate complaint or does it sound like a bridezilla? If you still aren’t sure, contact the vendor to ask about the situation and how it was resolved. Leave no stone unturned because you want to feel a level of confidence in your choices.
This is your big day so make sure you protect it by taking the time to do some research on your vendors! If you liked this post, please leave a comment below. Sign up for my weekly email (one per week) on the home page and as always have a blessed day!
