These support groups originated in Japan but I see it as being your social club of close and personal friends that you trust completely with most aspects with your life. These are the type of friends that usually last a lifetime. You can read more about the history and benefits of having a Moai here.

With today’s busy world, it’s hard to find time to spend with your Moai because of work, family and other obligations but it is so important to your mental and emotional health to stay connected. Maybe you can’t get together every day, every week or every month but you need to find some time to nurture these relationships. That’s why I thought it was important to find things to do with your Moai for almost every type of budget.

  • Host a game or movie night. This is a low budget way to gather your besties, relax and socialize. You can do this several times a year and everyone can take turns hosting.
  • Visit a local fortune teller or palm reader. It may take a little time to find someone local but it is an inexpensive way to spend the afternoon with your friends. Whether you believe what they tell you or not, it can be entertaining and fun. I have seen palm readers as low as $5 – $10 so why not go see what your future holds for you and your friends?
  • Plan to go to a women’s conference. You will have to do some research to see when and where the a conference is going to be held but you will get to spiritually and emotionally bond with your group. You may even find one that is free or one that accepts donations to attend depending on the type of conference you attend.
  • Have a private adult party. Don’t think of these as being a “dirty” party because most sell more than just adult toys. You can have some fun with your friends and some interesting conversations. Nobody is obligated to buy anything but it is important to find a good product hostess. Here is one that I have used in the past and we had a ball: https://www.pureromance.com
  • Go to an antique show or flea market. Not only do you get to spend time with your friends, you get a better understanding of the things they like as individuals. This is one of my favorites: https://www.vintagemarketdays.com
  • Find a sip and paint. This is becoming a popular trend right now especially for couples. Sip on some wine while you paint – how relaxing! Make individual reservations or book a party for just your group. You can check one out here: https://www.wineanddesign.com
  • Do a spa or makeover day. Who don’t like getting pampered? From hair to facials to nails, the choices are unlimited. Make sure you look on Groupon to see what kind of deals you can get for your whole group. If you can’t find any, call around because some places will give you a better deal when you book as a group.
  • Book a short cruise. This usually costs more than the other ideas but can you imagine the fun you will have with your friends? You can find all kinds of deals on 3 and 4 day cruises if you take the time to do the research. Check out what deals you can find here: https://www.expedia.com/Cruises
  • Book a week long trip. Tell your Moai to gather and save for a week of fun and friends. Get connected and have a great time together. Make sure you find somewhere that will have activities that everyone can enjoy. These are just a few ideas to get the wheels turning so that you can come up with other ideas on how to spend time with your Moai. It’s not important about what you do but that you do it. Make the quality time to spend with your closest friends because it can help renew your spirit.
