Rooted in friendship and acceptance, Boots’ journey of learning new skills as he navigates his disability as told through Three Paws is perfect for young children, whether they are learning to survive their own challenge or simply understanding others who may appear “different”.

No matter our background, we can all relate to Boots and his story: one of perseverance and never giving up on our dreams, even if the odds are stacked against us. “After injuring his paw, Boots never strays from his desire, his dream, to be a great salmon catcher in Ketchikan,” Struck says. “He quickly realizes that with his three usable paws, he’ll need to learn new skills to aid him toward his goal and sets out to do so. And thanks to the help of a new friend, an injured billy goat, Boots soon finds it’s important to rely on other’s for support – we’re all in this together.”

Boots’ adventures in Three Paws encourages children to be bold and make new friends, all while allowing themselves the room to grow and learn new things. It promotes the importance of both independence and inclusivity, and how both together can function to provide acceptance, encouragement, and positive growth for a child.

Ssouthernlifestyle ~ Three Paws is a great children’s book that encourages children to learn different ways to get past obstacles that may normally hinder them. Boots was able to overcome and provide a feast by helping, trusting and learning from an unexpected friend. My granddaughter enjoyed reading about Boots’ adventure!
