Every year downtown Spartanburg blocks off the streets to host the annual Spring Fling. This year there was more streets blocked off to hold all the vendors for this 3 day event.
Once we found a nearby place to park, it was foot traffic only. The streets were filled with people from corner to corner. There were so many vendors selling things that ranged from home made jewelry, clothing, toys, paintings, crafts, metal art, food, etc. It’s cool to see all the new ideas people come up with. On top of that, I actually recognized a painter there that months before I had read an article about how he started out.
As we walked along I could see bands starting to set up at the different stages. Of course there were also individuals performing in different areas on the streets or at some of the local restaurants so there was a variety music everywhere.
At one end of the road there was a kid zone that had several carnival rides and bouncy houses for the kids. The lines were a little long but at least the weather was nice. Each ride we seen was from 2 – 4 tickets and the tickets were $1 a piece. If you traveled to the other side of this street, you would find all the carnival food which was a perfect match.
We had a great time but I was glad to get off my feet and relax after all the walking. If you ever get a chance to catch the Spring Fling, it’s a great experience that has something for everyone!
