In the Spirit of Wedding Vows

Wedding vows are a way to express our commitment and love to the person we choose to be our life partner. There isn’t a right or wrong way to do your wedding vows. You want it to come from the heart and have meaning for both you and your partner. It has become more popular for couples to write their own vows due to it makes it more personal than the traditional vows.

Even though it sounds so romantic to use your own vows, it puts a lot of pressure on your partner to “get it right”. Talk to your partner about how they feel about writing your own vows before deciding. Give them resources that can help them so that they have a platform to start. If writing your own vows just ain’t going to happen, you can always look for a simple traditional vow like the one below:

Funny story: You know most weddings have something unexpectedly happen that makes it memorable so when my husband, Steven, and I were talking about our wedding vows, we kept making fun about how funny it would be if someone said awfully instead of lawfully. Well on the day of our wedding, as it was my turn to say my vows, I did it! I said “awfully wedded husband”. So now when I get aggravated at him for something, he reminds me that I did say awfully so I can’t get mad.

The ring ceremony is the physical token that symbolizes to the world your vows of commitment to your partner. The exchange of rings can either have a separate place during the wedding ceremony or it can be infused into the wedding vows so that everything is done together. The rings can be just as special as the vows. You can write your own words for the ring ceremony to personalize it or you can use a traditional one like the below:

Even though we have 9 more years before we make it to our 25th anniversary, Steven and I plan on renewing our wedding vows to celebrate this great this great day with our family and friends!
