Probably about 10 years ago I started a small blog. I didn’t have any training or any idea of what I was going to do with it but I knew I loved to write. After a while I just stopped writing and let it fall to the waist side. I can’t even remember what it was called or what it was about because I really didn’t put any effort into it.
Now fast forward to 2018…..I happen to stumble across a Facebook ad about a free 5-day course on starting a blog. I felt like it was a sign that I should try it again. So in May 2018 I took the leap and started my website ssouthernlifestyle. I really loved how the course explains step-by step how to set up your website and how to avoid some of the common mistakes that new bloggers make. This was a lot of information that I wish I would’ve had all those years ago but I am thankful that it found me now.
After taking the free course, I decided to work on getting some posts up on my site while I debated on taking the Blogging Blastoff course. This course wasn’t going to be free but there were two things that made it appealing: 1 – I could make payments & 2 – it was going to be a more in depth course that I really needed to help me grow my blog. I decided while I was writing, I would save up the money and in July 2018 I enrolled with my first payment. Funny story – while waiting for the class to start, there was a thread in the special Facebook group where you were supposed to tell why you were excited to take the course because there would be one person to win the course for free. Of course I put in my comment and by fate, I won! Then I became overly excited to start the course because it was another sign for me that I was on the right track. Now that I have taken the course I understand why it’s not free. There is so much information from social media to monetizing your blog to the business side of blogging. I learned so much in taking that course that I know it was well worth the price. Another great thing is that I can access the information for up to 2 years which means that when I need something, I can refer back to it.
On top of all the great information provided in the Blogging Blastoff course, I received the Word Press Blastoff as a bonus for taking the Blogging Blastoff. This course teaches you more about the Word Press functions, themes, widgets, plugins and so much more. You really can’t beat all the work and information that is put into these courses to make easier for you to understand.
Lastly when you decide to start this journey, you have access to special Facebook groups so that you can ask questions, get support and share your journey. They also have monthly special challenges that you can enter in which will help you grow as a blogger and help grow your social media followers. It doesn’t end when the course is finished and I think this is what makes this course so special. You become part of a community; a family of bloggers that want to succeed and want to help you succeed too.
There is one more course that they offer that I haven’t taken yet which is the Travel Blogging Fast Track. They offer a payment plan on this course too but just as before, I am working on getting more posts on my site and saving money to take it. I can’t wait to take it though because I know it will be full of great information just like the other courses are! Once I take the course, I will give you an update on how it went!
I am so thankful for these courses because they have brought me closer to my dreams of being a full time blogger. It’s never too late to start chasing your dreams!
