Dirty mouth? No I’m not advertising for Orbitz but people need to clean up their mouths. Whether you call it cussing or cursing, so many people have made “bad” words part of their vocabulary. What’s even worse is that TV programs is finding cuss words socially acceptable so even if you don’t use cuss words, some of the shows you watch probably are.

Many moons ago, I too was part of the cussing community but once I got saved, I decided that I no longer needed to use these words. Over the years I have heard the arguments that “it’s only words” or “it’s man-made words” but somewhere down the line cuss words have been deemed to have negative value. Think about it, would you use these arguments to justify to the principal why your child is using them at school? I seriously think not.

Anyways, there is a reason that you can’t use cuss words at school or church whether it be right or wrong so I decided that I wasn’t going to keep them in my vocabulary any longer. It took me years to learn how to control my tongue especially when I was angry but I conquered this bad habit by substituting the words. Yes, some of them sound funny but I think it is much better than using cuss words now that my grandkids are listening.

Here are 32 words/phrases that I personally use to keep my mouth as clean as possible:
