Welcome to “Sin City” – Las Vegas, Nevada!
A few years ago my husband surprised me with a week long trip to Las Vegas. This was our first time visiting so you can only imagine the excitement we had just seeing the strip for the first time. Being a week long trip we wanted to find things to do that didn’t involve us gambling every evening.

Me and my husband under the famous Vegas sign.

There are plenty of hotels and casinos to visit with most of them having their own attractions to lure you in. From shows to casinos to dining, there is plenty do in Las Vegas but what’s else can you do beyond the Vegas strip? Below is 5 places we visited during our trip:

Hoover Damh – Make sure you leave early enough to get in line. This is a popular tourist attraction. The sheer size and views from the dam will amaze you!

Pioneer Saloon – Built in 1913 and located in Good Springs, Nevada this is one of the oldest running bars in the country. There is a lot of history to see here like the original bullet holes in the walls of this wild west saloon.

Bonnie Springs Ranch – You don’t have to leave Las Vegas to visit this ranch. With a zoo, old western town, a train and horseback riding; your day will filled with stuff to do.

Extraterrestrial Highway – Formally known as Nevada State Highway 375, it was renamed in 1966 because of the popularity of UFO sightings. This is open range territory so beware of animals and aliens.

Fremont Street – If don’t want to travel too far then you can always go downtown to visit Fremont Street. This street is like no other and it’s almost like a city within a city. There is plenty to do and see.

I have to say that this was a great trip and nothing can compare to the lights of Las Vegas. The money that we won gambling paid for most of our food and other trips. I can’t wait to visit again and find more places off the beaten path! Below are a few more pictures from our Vegas trip:
