Once you get older birthdays come and go but I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed my birthday this year. There were things that I did to make it more enjoyable and there were things that just happened that made it more fun.

I took a couple of days off from work.

So I decided to take to have a four day birthday weekend by taking the Thursday and Friday off before my birthday. I wanted to get some things done on my blog and work on my book along with some rest and relaxation. Once I left work on that Wednesday, I decided not to take any work home with me so that I wouldn’t be tempted to even look at it plus I decided not to answer any phone calls from work unless it was an actual emergency (which in most cases, it really isn’t).

I learned something new.

Since the house was clean, I decided to learn more about YouTube so that I could give my channel a makeover to make it look more professional. After spending hours of learning, making a couple of videos and adding some things, I got a whole new look and it actually looks soooo much better than before. I am so proud of how it is shaping up and you can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmNhTw1eHMYA1oWMeMoVw_A

I bought myself a birthday gift.

Along with my husband’s gifts, a portable camera stabilizer (which I will be doing a review on this pretty soon so stay tuned), flowers with a card and a wonderful meal, I decided to treat myself too. I bought some candles from Bath & Body Works and Yankee Candle which was fabulous for setting the mood for autumn and Halloween.

I visited a local Autumn market.

Scarlett’s High Cotton had an Autumn market that was happening on my birthday. I have always wanted to stop by to see what vintage items they had for sale but I never took the time so when Saturday rolled around, I was ready to go check it out! I spent about 2 hours looking at all the vendors’ booths and purchasing a few items to boot! (I will have more about the market in a future post, of course.)

I bought a scratch off ticket.

On my way back, I stopped by a convenience store and decided to pick up a snack for the way home. Once I got to the register, I noticed a new scratch off that I had never seen so I thought to myself, “why not”? When I got home, I sat outside at our picnic table are started scratching away. Low and behold, I had won $10 dollars. It was a break even situation but it felt good to win on my birthday.

Other things that made it enjoyable too.

There were several other things that made my birthday just great like:

  • I got on the scale and I am finally down 20lbs! It seemed like forever before the one pound would be gone.
  • I received so many great birthday wishes from my family and friends! It started around 8:30 am and continued throughout the day until I received my last one around 11:30 pm.
  • I got my FabFitFun fall box which is always fun to open. It’s like another gift to myself.
  • Since I have really been watching what I eat and drink for the last couple of months, for my birthday I decided to have a small piece of bread, one glass of sweet tea and a loaded baked potato with my steak. (Yes that was a big treat for me.)
  • The Clemson Tigers had another win. Even though they didn’t play as well as expected, a win is a win.
  • I ordered a crafting kit and if I like it, I will be sharing it in a future post!
  • Lastly, The Walking Dead returns during my extended birthday weekend. What more could you really ask for?

Remember that it is important to celebrate even the small things, the small victories in life because we are not promised another birthday and a lot of things can happen in a year. Make sure that you take the time to celebrate your birthday in a way that makes you happy and feel good even if it’s only for a day!
