Mayfest is a local festival held annually in Duncan, SC. What makes this festival so unique is that it has a lot to offer just at a smaller scale than the larger festivals. The crowds are much smaller which means you can actually enjoy all the sights and sounds.
Pictured above is the local firetrucks proudly displaying the American flag at the entrance to the festival. During the morning hours the festival hosts a 5K run to get the day started out on the right foot (lol). There is also a car show that lasts until about 2 pm.
Once you enter, people can either purchase tickets or purchase a wrist band (which I totally recommend) for kids to ride carnival rides, play in the jumpy houses or go down the slides.
Every year there is live music at the stage. This year was “The Shag Doctorz” who I totally enjoyed because of the variety of beach music and great oldies. The festival has all the basic carnival stuff from lemonade to pretzels to snow cones. Of course the temperatures were so high that I had to get a snow cone just to cool off.
After walking around the whole area we decided to walk down the vendor isle. I love looking at all the local crafts, gifts and services the community has to offer. You will have to check out my treasures blog to see what I bought that day.
Next year before May gets here, look up Mayfest in Duncan, SC to sign up for the 5k run and come enjoy the small town atmosphere along with some good food, music and rides. Just don’t forget to bring some sunscreen…..
