Dating back to the Ancient Egyptians and Greeks, fruit cake has become a holiday tradition to make, eat and give as gifts over the years. Some old English traditions included baking a bean inside and whoever found it was considered to have good luck.
Not everyone is a big fan of fruit cake but this recipe can bring back this holiday favorite. With just the right combination of ingredients, you will want to share this fruit cake with others for decades to come.

Betty’s Fruit Cake
Ingredients
- 1 box graham crackers
- 1 lb. half cut English walnut
- 1 lb. half cut black walnut
- 1 lb. half cut pecans
- 1 lb. shredded coconut
- 1 lb. candied / glazed pineapple
- 1 lb. candied / glazed cherries
- 1 lb. raisins
- 2 cans Eagle Brand condensed milk
Directions
- In a large bowl, grind graham crackers into crumbs.
- Next mix in the fruits and nuts to the cracker crumbs. Add the condensed milk and mix again until fully mixed. (For best results, mix ingredients by hand.)
- Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
- Pour mixture into a fruit cake pan or a ring cake pan.
- Bake for 2 hours.
