The Trinity has always been God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit but trying to find an easy way to explain it is difficult. For the longest it was hard for me to understand the concept of the Trinity so how was I supposed to explain it to my children? Then one day it was explained in a way that it finally clicked.
Years ago I used to stop by a certain gas station every Sunday to pick up a free CD that was offered by a local church. This was not the church that I attended but I liked how the preacher explained things in simple terms that I could apply to my life. There was one particular CD that the preacher explained the Trinity at a level that even my children could understand. That’s what made it click for me.
Below is the easiest way that I have ever heard it explained:
- God the Father is the sun. He brings all light and life to the world.
- God the Son is the rays of sunshine. He is an extension of the sun and brings the sun directly to the world.
- God the Holy Spirit is the warmth you feel from the sun. This is God’s way of letting you know he is with and in you because you can feel his presence.
I am sure there are other ways to explain the Trinity but I found this one to be one of the easiest.
